Last year I decided to make pumpkin pie out of real pumpkin (the stuff in cans is actually butternut squash). It was a ton of work and nobody cared to try my pie, although someone very close to me, who doesn't like pumpkin pie, loved it. He reported it was spicy, fragrant and tasted like... pumpkin.

I learned that Thanksgiving is about tradition. So the best home made pie can't beat the pies one loves to buy.

Since this is my first Thanksgiving as a US citizen I  went and bought a pie. I know there is no logic to that statement but there is no reason in the comfort foods we choose. So there you have it.

So this year's pie is apple cranberry from Angel Food Bakery.
