3 quick tips to hack-proof your twitter account

Claiming these tips would fully hack-proof your account is a stretch, but these tips should give you an extra level of security, and possibly awareness:

1. Don't visit profiles via twitter.com during times of infection. It's safer to use a Twitter client such as TweetDeck or my favorite, HootSuite. Certain viruses such as StalkDaily and Mikeyy get transmitted via profile visits. Using a client and staying away from visiting profiles may add extra protection.

2. Be selective when clicking on shortened URLs. Use a URL expander such as ExpandMyURL or the Mozilla Bit.ly add-on which will give you a hover preview of the shortened URL.

3. Review apps you allow to access your Twitter account and revoke access to anything you don't fully trust. Go to setting/connections and review these on a regular basis.

Now you know more and hopefully will be safer.

Tweet away! :)
